A 4 page paper that discusses the initiation of kindergarten by Friedrich Froebel. Froebel's philosophies and premises are explained. The adoption of kindergarten in the U.S. is also discussed. The essay then turns to early childhood education and presents the first attempts with this concept in the early 1800s. The next serious movement towards early childhood education was the Head Start program, which began in the 1960s. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
